Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School, in the year 1992, began her studies in marine biology. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, when she started working aboard the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner, which was transformed into the role of a salmon tender is owned by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard married Aritan in 1999. The pair have come together to fight for their business. They are both proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable marine resources. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard returned from living back at home with her daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. She and her husband are separated by five months, and more for her to be focused on her finances as well as her environmental goals. In July 2016, Bossard and her daughter Isabella aged 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 are back in Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the summer wild salmon harvest. With a small 42 troller Bossards are able to capture salmon with hooks. They work in conjunction with Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
